  1. I'd ripped quite a few DVDs now. I rip the VOBs with DVDecrypter. I then make a project with DVD2AVI, and I encode the VOBs with TMPGEnc to MPEG-2 DVD format. It's worked fine every time. Now I'm trying to rip Die Hard, but the audio is off by maybe a second or two. Is there any way I can correct this using TMPGEnc or do I need to use other software?

...For the person that helps me out, thanks in advance. Also, if it's possible to fix this problem without re-encoding the VOBs it would save me 6 hours, thanks

  2. I thought I'd add that the sound actually gets progressively out of sync. I'm also using Windows Media Player when testing the endcoded MPEG-2 file. I'm using DVD2AVI version 1.76. The audio extracted from the VOBs is a .WAV file...

  3. PowerDVD seems to play the MPEG-2 file in sync with the audio....maybe that means when I burn it the audio will be in sync??

....nevermind, the audio gets progressively out of sync in PowerDVD too...darn

  4. ok...i'm a little bit confused...your dvd rip was outta sync..but then in sync when u played it w/ powerDVD? did your dvd rip appear outta sync when you were playing it on mplayer????

if it's in sync in powerDVD, you can burn it on a CD-RW and find out...

otherwise, since you said it was getting progressively outta sync, there could be some possible reasons

    1) did you remove the multi-angles? since you use dvddecryptor, did you goto options and enable MULTI-ANGLE PROCESSING....if you don't remove them, you get outta sync audio and a host of other problems (i.e. repeating scenes, etc.)

    2) one of the versions of dvd2avi was screwing ppl up..cuz when dvd2avi forced film, it forced film into 24 fps rather than 23.976...this little difference in fps will make your audio progressively outta sync (you can check the fps in the info box when you are creating the project .d2v file in dvd2avi)

  5. No, the audio gets progressivly out of sync in media player and PowerDVD. Multi Angle processing is off in DVD2AVI and I've used this program for about 5 other DVDs and have had no audio problems so far, just with this DVD...have any other possible solutions?

  6. DVation, errr...apparently u did not read my post correctly...

when u are ripping w/ DVDDECRYPTOR, did you goto options and make sure MULTI-ANGLE PROCESSING is enabled?????

also, with DVD2AVI...when you are saving the project file, do you notice a little info box pops up to the right???? in that info box, there will be some info about video/audio, etc... can you tell me wut it sez about frames per second (fps)????

  7. sorry ur right, i misunderstood, i have Multi Angle Processing OFF. Right now I tried stripping the extra audio streams and extra subtitles, and trying it again to see if that works, if it doesn't I'll try ripping it wil Multi-Angle Processing ON next time...thanks for the tip...but what exactly does this do and why do you think it will help my audio sync problem ?

  8. multi-angles/seamless branching...

for example, in ID4 special edition and T2 ultimate edition, they have the theatrical version of the movie and the "director's cut version".....rather than put two separate movies on the DVD, they basically combined both...so the theatrical version will have the extra scenes inserted into it that will turn it into the director's cut version..depending on wut the user chooses, the DVD will decide whether to play those extra scenes or not...

if you rip the movie without enabling multi-angle processing, it will contain these extra scenes...however, the audio that you extract with dvd2avi may only be for the theatrical version, while the vobs u ripped is for the longer special edition w/ extra scenes..hence, the audio and video will not match up...

i'm not sure if i explained everything correctly..but i think this is the case...

also, multi-angles are generally not good because there will be repeating scenes (scenes that repeat over and over rather than going on to the next scene)

hence, it's better to ENABLE MULTI-ANGLE PROCESSING...stripping the subtitle and audio tracks won't help in this case
