  1. I have a divx file in which the audio precedes the video, and when I load the file into VirtualDub, it recognizes the error. This is the exact message:

"VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source of the AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 59633 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 139.8 +- 32.2 kbps)"

This is my first time experience with using VirtualDub, so try to excuse my incompetency. The file is loaded into VirtualDub, and I am able play it while VD resyncs (redub) the entire file. My question is, how do I saved the corrected version? I tried to use the "save as .avi" function, but all it does is save the exact file without the audio/video corrections. There might be a real easy answer to this, so if anybody knows, thank you very much for your help.

  2. STELEATSEA, here is my first question: Is the audio out of sync with the video? Iam confused to what you are asking because virtualdub should not be used as save avi. Please answer my 1st question and we can start from there. VCD4ME

  3. load your file into VDub and select save wav in the file pull down menu. this will create a very large wave file of the audio track from your video.

when that is done select direct stream copy in the video pull down menu.

now in the audio pull down menu select WAV audio and load the wav file you created. now set up the compression setting.

now in the file pull down menu select save as avi and give your new file a unique name.

if the audio is still out of sync then open the audio pull down menu in VDub and select interleaving and you will find a box to add an audio skew correction value in milliseconds.
    peace out,

Look over to the left of the site. You use TMPGEnc's mpeg tools.
