  1. Hi all,

Maybe this belongs in Advanced Conversions but I'll post here first.

I am converting some Japanese animation with subtitles. Some of the source avi's seem to have the subtitles very low on the screen.

When I convert to VCD they appear readable in Media Player but when burnt they disappear at the bottom of the screen.

Is there any thing I can do during the conversion to avoid this problem at burn time?

I use TMPGenc 2.53 to encode and Nero to burn as VCD.

    Suggestions would be great.
    Thanks!

Which tool / filter do you use to add the subs? If you play the burnt VCD with a software dvd player, do the subs disappear as well or only when you watch it on TV?
Short said, there are 2 ways, adjust the subtitle position when you setup the subtitle filter or / and add borders around the image, that you wont see on TV anyway due to the TV overscan area.
You can see, I gave you some keywords, use the forum search for more details.

  3. Thanks! I'll do my leg work now.
I'm not adding the subtitles. They're already there. The AVI file has already been subbed. I'm just encoding into VCD format.

Thanks again. I'm going to try the border thing. I just need to find how to do it annd so I'll do a search on the Forum.
