I need help, I've been busy converting my dvd collection to xvid to mount on my tversity home server but I have come up against a brick wall so far eveything I have tried to convert episodes of Lost season 2 is failing with the audio becoming out of sync (depending on what steps I take and programs it either starts off out of sync or starts off fine but eventually becomes out of sync).
Has anyone been successful at converting Lost season 2 (season 1 worked fine for me) if so what techniques did you use, I've already wasted 3 days trying to get this done so dont particularly want to spend an excessive amount per episode in completing this but neither do I want to try and get them from peer to peer as these days they all seem to force you to share what you're downloading.

Dvd decrypter + AutoGK, K reports a field transition order, so I use the Fix D2V tool, which seems to get things a little closer but not acceptably.
DVDFab + DVD Shrink + AutoGK starts off in sync, but by halfway through it gets out of sync.
Tried to use avi.net but the bloody thing wont initialise -
I haven't experienced that issue myself with AutoGK, but it can be sensitive depending on which versions are running in the background.
For example, upgrading to xvid 1.1.3 may prove troublesome but the common issue is usually undersized output files. The version of DGIndex may also be an issue and as a guess your source video may mix with top-field/bottom-field?
If you have already upgraded and tried different ripping methods and this is a one-off conversion, you could try Fairuse Wizard - for a recent guide for episodic TV conversions see:

aarrrggghhh! Now I'm even more confused, the first disc of season 3 worked fine, no field transition order errors, so I ripped all the other discs, got round to adding them to my job queue (been doing sliders since lost season 2 gave me jip) only to find out that they had problems too...
is it possible somethings going wrong when I'm ripping the discs
also not too impressed with the packages for conversion as yet as I've not found a wayy to make the convert at 100% quality like I'm doing aith AutoGK (maybe I just need to spend more time with them) -
I was able to replicate your problem with Lost Season 4 by playing around with different version of AutoGK (2.40, 2.45, 2.48 beta update) and mixing different versions of DGindex (1.48 -> 1.53) and settings. From recollection AutoGK 2.40 (with DGIndex 1.48) worked well, but AutoGK 2.45 and above gave the same field order errors depedning on the DGIndex version used - I'll have to confirm this though, cause I did a lot of upgrading and downgrading and setting changes.
I ripped with the latest DVDFab and was able to succesfully convert these - but much depends on the combinations of AutoGk versions and DGIndex version (and/or settings?).
Fairuse wizard worked fine, but I don't use the 'Standalone' default setting, I prefer to set the codec myself and for standalone compatability don't use qpel or GMC, and also a custom quantization matrix (either sharktooth's autogk sharp or a resolution based eg: V3LR) for my own quality preferences.
I also had success loading the vobs without audio (audio=false) into virtualdub via avisynth, and processing video and audio separately, then muxed without sync issues. This method removes the need to use DGIndex.
In my opinion AutoGK is the easiest way to obtain excellent quality output, but I am able to match the quality with the vdub / avisynth combination - its more time consuming though. -

and move everything into the DGMPGDec folder within AutoGK. -
Actually tried 2.48 beta on my laptop last night and although I got no error warning about the field transition orders the audio was still out of sync, will have to have more of a play later on tonight

Tried using the latest DGMPGDec on both my laptop and my media pc but this time I got errors stating "No Audio Is Found", will have to try giving AGK 2.40 a go to see what happens, was wondering if ffdshow may have been interfering with the process but my media pc blew a fuse after I installed xp sp3 so I spent most of yesterday re-instaling it and now all its got is xp sp2, AGK 2.48 and AVG

Sorry to bump an old thread, but was wondering if loggin ever solved this problem. I'm having same issues with Lost Season 2 using dvd decrypter and autogk as well as staxrip - audio sync issues. VOBs play fine.

Not sorted yet mate, funnily enough it was today that I downloaded the newest AutoGK (2.50a) and gave it a go but still no luck, I'm gonna be hoppin on the AGK forum to post my probs to see if anyone can help there, it's either that or manually running all the conversion tools which I haven't got the foggiest to do at the mo

Audio synch issues are easily fixed by adjusting the delay, have nothing to do with AutoGK, but more with the decryption method. That's if the out-of-synch is constant. If it appears part way through or is progressive, that definitely points to a decrypting problem. The answer might be to use DVDFab HD Decrypter, perhaps in conjunction with FixVTS afterwards, or to use DVDShrink in reauthor mode to get the various episodes, perhaps in conjunction with FixVTS to get rid of any unreferenced cells which, if in the middle of the VOBs, can cause the out-of-synch to suddenly appear. When dealing with newfangled encryption, you have to be up-to-date on the remedies and be flexible, as the same methods won't work all the time.
In any event, I'd first suggest running what you have on the hard drive through FixVTS and trying again, before trying my second suggestion that you start all over with a more up-to-date decrypter.
I thought one of loggin's problems was the field order problem. Surely that's been solved by now, right? -
Loggin / han0522 - if you are getting a black screen of video for the first few seconds (which isn't on the original disc) but audio commences immediately hence the sync problem with the resultant xvid file, try ripping each episode individually with DVDFab via the Customize option, so that each episode from the disc will have its own directory on your HDD. (Maybe even select remove menus).
Then use AutoGK 2.50a. -
I'll give it a go when I get home, I do believe that there is a black screen to start with, was gonna give DVDFab another go after manono's post as I had recently updated DVDFab to get around an issue with "The Dark Knight" (which even made the disc unplayable in my dvd player! now its been ripped and is unencrypted and DRM free, so up yours movie industry!)
