One of the drawbacks to this camcorder is the poor lighting it gives out So I put my thinking cap on and came up with this which is a little better

SO what did i do?
The first thing was getting a better light, luckily I already had a CN-160 light now fitting to the camcorder . I cut down a thread to make a stud from another bit of kit I no longer ,use as well as a slide connecter again I had kicking around. Now with the two together screwied in did not line up so cut a bit of rubber for packing out and scratch protection.

so has it made a difference ? distance to front door 16ft approx 5 mtr.

Video starts without light- then built in handle light ,finally together with Cn-160. May not be the perfect answer but better than before
Oh that bit on the right was again another bit of kit no longer used. it was from one of those plastic extender bits that come in 3 sections only cost a couple of quid .but I already had anyway to cover the screw hole in the handle top

There are inexpensive LED lights you can get that are already designed with hotshoe in mind, so no need to custom build one. However, it makes more sense to move the light off the axis of the camera. Since you said "portable", I suggest you get 2 and put them on a hotshoe extender bar.

Fair comment and thank you for your reply. Obviously this was just a try out to see if this setup made any difference as I already had the parts. I am fortunate enough not to have to work being an OAP one of the benefits of old age.
Always interested in what others suggest and usually far better than my ideas .Last edited by realspeed; 1st Mar 2022 at 19:11.
