  4. There are many reasons to choose DivX over VCD. It creates files with smaller sizes so it is ideal for internet transfers. Alot of people also dont have standalone dvd/vcd players so they are happy watching them on their PC and prefer the higher resolutions that a computer monitor provides. If they want to watch it on their TV then they may choose to output it through a TV-Out card. This saves them the time it takes to encode the source material to [X]S/VCD. It just depends on what you want out of your movies as to which compression you use.

  5. couldnt there also be a similar argument like;

    why create vcd? vcd looks shitty, svcd looks alot better..

    or why create svcd? dvd-r looks alot better...

    or why create dvd? uncompressed avi looks alot better...

    or why create uncompressed avi? that new george lucas film looks alot better.. (the actual digifilm, not star wars. **** star wars!)
