  1. Hi, I was not sure where I should post this.

As the title says... When I enter a tape, the machine starts working and then shuts down. If I turn it back on, same story. I tried with 5 different tapes. Sometimes it'd eject the tape. The tapes work on another VCR. The model is Panasonic NV-HS1000. The seller said it's working.
I made a video to show you what I'm seeing:

Maybe someone can help me figure out if the situation is reasonably fixable or should I try to return it to the seller?

  2. After further analysis it seems that the things that should drag the tape into working position stop before reaching the goal.

I wonder if it is something that could be fixed with reasonable means?

It is fixable, with enough time, tools & equipment, skill & knowledge, and money. But it is currently not working. And you may or may not (likely not) have those prerequisites.

Your seller said it was working. Working VCRs can output a decent video signal off the tape. That one powers on, but doesn't go the whole distance.
Return it while you can. There are plenty of others that are truly working.

  4. Thanks, I've thought about it and I think it's probably for the best to try to return it.
