I have inserted bt709 video into avisynth and for some reason it shows artefacts around edges. What might be causing this?

Too much/poor compression in the source. Is that a 1:1 pixel display? Or is it scaled? Scaling can cause rough edges too.

I have fixed the problem by using ffmpegsource instead of DirectShowSource

I didn't expect that. But generally, DirectShowSource should be used only as a last resort. Use FfmpegSource or LSMASHSource instead.
