Maybe insert a small text under the avitar showing each person's computer set-up. Like it displays the OS or some information about the computer set-up. Just an idea, it may be dumb, but I've seen a lot of people ask for help and the first reply is asking what their set-up is.

Well, it could be a link to a section of the user profile that lists the computer specifications.
-
Yep it is a good idea....I have thought about it before but never add it. The best would be to use an very easy form, like
CPU - drop down list
OS - drop down list
Capture Card - text box
Standalone DVD Player - text box
and so on...so it will be the same for all instead of just typing the info in one big textbox.
And it will be shown under under the avatar with both a link to the users profile and so you can see it directly just pointing your mouse on the link. -
Sounds great to me. It seems like it would help the helpers. This way the need to ask for computer specifications would be eliminated.

Because Blackadder is the best comedy serie....and I´m almost as smart as Baldrick...
-
if someone could help me it would go a bit faster...like just mention what that should be include in the pc spec like
CPU:
Memory:
and so on...and maybe also make a html form to it. -
Including Mac Computers!!!
OS:
CPU Speed:
Hard Drive Space:
Ram:
Video Card:
Capture Card:
Can't think of anything else -

@ Baldrick...
Same issue as deltaboy....
Great idea however!
[Begin Edit]
Ok, seems that you have to fill in your password to get it to stick....
*beats head on the wall*

no need to fill in the password...i had just made a small php mistake.

GOOD SHIGHT!!!
nicely done Baldrick... hats of to you!later bater. deltaboy -
Wow. It's better than I originally thought it would be. I like it.
-
Problem...maybe. Once you make changes to your system profile the changes are not reflected the the mouse.over picture. It still shows my old profile and not the updated one.
-
now it shows everything when pointing the mouse over the link...but it is not yet 100% done...I will make some more tweaks to it.
-
How about having little caption describing what all the listed items are. Right now they seem to just be a jumble of words and numbers. Maybe have abbreviations of what the person is listing. for example
cpu: 450mhz
mem: 768mb
hd: 40gb
cd-rw: sony 12x8x32 Firewire
Just another thought -
Just a suggestion baldrick but I think there is one major ommision to the system specification. Motherboard ?

motherboard added
and describing text for the mouse over. -

{i'm in awe because i'm still learning PHP}Cheers~
