  1. I'm trying to convert a divx file in to a vcd .mpg and part way through it gives me a 'floating decimal point error'. I'm using TMPEnc, and I've tried the different templates: NTSC, NTSCFilm, and PAL. None of them seem to work. Could someone shed some light on this situation? Thanks!

I had that happen on the second half of a movie I was encoding using TMPEGnc Plus (2.53) with my template...

After trying several things, I reduced the bitrate by 100. It worked. If you are doing x(S)VCD this is a possibility, however if you are doing *standard* VCD I dont think that will help you.

Load AVI into Vdub 1.49, select Video > scan video stream for errors
Now select video streaming and audio streaming. and save as, save out another movie2.avi and use that to convert

    Your avi has bad frames...

  5. I pulled the divx file into VirtualDub and tried scanning the stream for errors. Part way through the scan i get this error:

Internal Error: MMX State Left on: T:\Projects\VirtualDub_Old\mail\videosource.cpp:11 01

Any ideas at what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks!

Well like most programs, thousands of different errors generate either the same error message or one that only the programmer can understand, probably a debug message. But it does sound as if there is problems with the AVI

Try using "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" download from grokster/kazza its a modified version of Vdub 1.4C this creates a log file of the bad frames at c:\

That can then be used to remove the bad frames.
