  1. HI,

I have been using DVDMaestro for couple of years. I love the software. Ever since I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit onto my PC, every time I open the software the error message pops up preventing it to launch.

    error message:

    DVDMAESTRO.exe-Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point q could not be located in the dynamic link library sx32w2.dll.

Can anyone give me tips and hint on how to open DVDMAESTRO in my pc running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

My computer is a SONY LAPTOP model VGN-FW355J

    Specs:

    THANKS in advance

Why are you running it under 64bit Win7? DVDMaestro wasn't built with that in mind, heck it was expected to use it under NT4! (although, Win2k and XP does work). I'm not surprised at all that you're having problems.

Instead of trying to track down the entry point problem(s) with some DLL workarounds, just run it on Win2k/XP 32bit. Either a separate boot or maybe Virtual machine.

  3. HI,

i was successful on Vista ultimate 64 bit, and before that it was awesome with XP-32.

upgraded to Win 7 cuz it's better than Vista. I thought someone may know a back door procedure to get it to launch.

    thanks anyway,

Sigh...I miss the ol' Maestro (but not its price). It is defunct software. Time to migrate to a new authoring program. (Easier said than done, I know.) Or else, run it on a dedicated machine with an XP-32 OS.

  6. I have just loaded DVDMaestro onto my core i7 Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit box. Runs, but throws error message first: "Failed to update the system registry. Please try using REGEDIT." Then loads after I click OK.

To control CPU core usage, aka affinity, right click the shortcut to Maestro > properties > target > change target from

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Spruce DVDMaestro x.x.xxxxx\DVDMaestro.exe"

    to

    C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C "runMAESTROrun" /affinity 1 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Spruce DVDMaestro x.x.xxxxx\DVDMaestro.exe"

where x.x.xxxxx is your path to Maestro (keep all quote marks). This will assign Maestro to run on core 0. Maestro gets confused if it is presented with too many CPU cores. With this affinity setting it takes Maestro a few extra seconds to load.

I also installed Ravisent, which came with an old Matrox video card from ages ago. Ravisent provides preview function in Maestro.

Haven't actually authored anything yet this time round, but it looks promising.

Very sorry to report that though it LOOKED promising at first, I hit a big snag in the Menu window. The menu itself takes up too much room, and the bottom-most controls fall outside of the field of view. Nothing I do, including dicking around with screen resolution, remedies the situation. Also the rightmost menu controls, strangely enough, do not paint at all.

So this puts a severe crimp in usability. One of the great things about DVD Maestro was that it gave you access to a WHOLE LOT of DVD parameters. But if the controls don't paint, or are inaccessible, I'm screwed.

    Hello Maestro Mister,

I had same problem for resolution too, in XP.
Try the very little tool Res-o-Matic and see if works on Win7 too.
This tool lets you to forced any application to run at a specific resolution.

I used Res-o-matic for DVD Maestro on XP and ran very well!
