Hey I just bought a video card it has AGP instead of PCI. Will it still work on the pci connection?

  2. No, it will not work unless you have an AGP slot on your motherboard.

Keep the AGP card,.. it is higher performance than the PCI version. Your motherboard should have an AGP slot,,.. unless it is over 4 years old. In that case,...

  6. It would be a rare Socket370 (or even Slot-1) board to be lacking an AGP slot. Which motherboard is that? (manufacturer/model)

  7. It might be a i810-based motherboard with [crappy] integrated graphics (the original ones lacked the AGP slot)

You guys lost me there. I have an 800mhz celeron from HP, thats about as much as I know. I think its too expensive to get a new board 300+.I'll probably just go for a 32mb pci slot

    Jesus,

Just take the cover off your case and look at the motherboard. If it has an AGP slot it will look a lot different from any PCI socket. Typically it will be a single dark brown socket to the far right center of the motherboard (when you face the system from the front). It will be set farther back towards the center of your MOB than the reset of the PCI cards,... and again,... there will only be one. I believe that any HP system with an 800 MHz Celeron has to have an AGP slot,... it just has to.
