I have yet to meet a program that works for me.

What programs have not worked ?

  3. This one works pretty well:

    http://www.ulead.com/vs/runme.htm

30 day trial, take a peek and see what you think (because that's what matters the most). Lots of info at the site as far as what it will do, tutorials, etc.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

the worst I have ever experienced is Videowave5.

If you have any doubt, check out the posts at the MGISOFT.com support forum.

I'm serious. Give this garbage a wide berth.

  5. I will say Ulead DVD MovieFactory. It was a blessing after dealing with MyDVD. It captures, it converts, it authors, it burns, it edits.

I think VideoPack is great. It lets YOU control everything instead of that the program decides what you can do. It includes, slideshows, menues, cd audio and mpeg ofcourse. What I miss is include other data files.

    Hi

I will also say Ulead DVD MovieFactory works great and simple to use. They just have to improve their customer support.

  9. Wi ll DVD workshop create vcd's(mpeg1) with a menu and chapters?

    What player does it use?

  10. The easiest is Ulead, the best is either Videopack or ReelDVD. If your not comfortable with the underpinnings of VCD/SVCD stick with ULEAD.

Thank you every one for answering me

I've been having problems with every program I tried but finally found something that works.

I upgraded to Ulead Video Studio 6 (ver. 5 would not work correctly) and
    Ulead DVD WorkShop.

I use Video Studio to edit and add effects then make my VCD mpg. Then I use DVD WorkShop to make the menus and burn it.

I'm just wondering how to make an "NTSC Film" mgp with VS6 instead of a regualr NTSC mpg...anyone know

    Thanks

    ...continuation of my above msg......

I think Video Pack 5 would make menus that work better and Ulead Media Studio Pro 6 would edit better but I cant figure them out.

also...I noticed that Media Studio 6 does not have as many effects as version 5...I wonder why?

  14. Hey BMzx,

I am trying to decide the best software to select in order to create menu and chapters in mpeg,-1(vcd), format. I am trying to accomplish distribution of vcd's that will play on pc 's and open to a menu page that will allow the viewer to select different entry points or chapters within the vcd and then return to the menu page and select another entry point.

Have you been able to do this with Ulead DVD MovieFactory??

    Hi Mutt

DVD Movie Factory will do exactly what you want.

There is also a program called Dazzel DVD Complete that will do it also...good thing about this program is that when you make a VCD it has an option of adding a VCD player when you burn. This is so it will play on PCs that don't have a DVD ROM drive. It will auto play right when the disc is put in the pc. Only problem I have is that I have not got one to work yet. when I put the VCD in my pc or dvd player it freezes on the menu. Their tech support says the problem is with my pc but other programs make them just fine.

    good luck

  16. Hi,

I got fanatstic results with Ulead Video Studio 5. You need patch 1 & 2 from Ulead site. It works very easy, fast and allows a high range of custimizing. Good effects and the LIGOS encoder.

    Attention:
VST6 uses no longer LIGOS encoder instead an own encoder. Result: the sharpness is not so fine ...

Especially for Slide Shows is VST5 easy and efficient to use.

  17. BMzx,

When you said "good thing about this program is that when you make a VCD it has an option of adding a VCD player when you burn." Were you taking about Dazzel DVD Complete or DVD Workshop?

Let us know how it's going.

    Thanks!

  18. The best/most powerful/most flexible/most reliable S/VCD authoring program by far is VCDImager (hand authored XML scripts). For ease, try using one of the GUIs (e.g., VCD Easy or TSCV).

VCDImager is specifically for the AUTHORING component. You will have to make your source files (menus, clips, etc.) with another proggy.

If you want something less flexible/powerful but automatically does everything for you (in its own way), the above mentioned choices are okay.

    Regards.
