I am almost there - ripping using smartripper and making vcd and svcd using DVDx. I still have a slight audio problem - on the vcd, it pops a lot and on any musical tracks its kinda clips and is jumpy - but the sync is fine.
On svcd, its really jumpy during the music parts and it pops during dialog (but sync is fine).
I have the resync audi turned on in dvdx. The movie sounds the same whether I play on PC or DVD player.
I chnaged the default volume form 3 to 4 after running the little sound normalizer ( not sure exactly what its for though). Is my sound too hot? Should I turn off the resync sound?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

haven't used DVDx, so not too sure..but does it allow u to select which audio tracks to decode and add to your dvd rip? you could try selecting a different audio track (that's in same language of course),
for me, when i use dvd2avi and decode the 192 kbit/s DD audio track, it has some popping noises during high-pitched audio..switched to higher kbit/s audio track got rid of them
