  1. I'm usig Vdub to capture n it crashes with files above 4,0 gb.
I know I can split this capture files so I can capture for example 3 files with 3,8 gb each. The problem is that I used this settings n its not workin...
What am I doing wrong???Could someone give me the exactly settings to capture 3 files with a 3,8 gb size???
    That's what I did...I add 2 spill drives.
    Spill drives:
    Priority Threshold Path
    0 3.800mb D:
    0 3.800mb D:

Try not capture below 50 mb
    Try not............above 3.8000mb

    Thanxs

Yes I did enable it. It creates the 1rst avi file then creates the 2nd one (about 12kb, almost nothing, then it crashes.

  4. IŽm having a similar problem, VDub just freezes after I start the capturing.
And using AVI_IO, yesterday, after 43 minutes, it started dropping frames like crazy. I donŽt know why.

  5. Try capturing with file sizes of 2GB or less. I read somewhere about this being a limit of avi files with vdub.

  6. Which operating system and file system (FAT32/NTFS) are you using.

I am regularly capturing files at about 7 Gb using VirtualDub (Windows 2000 and NTFS file system) and all works fine. If you are using Windwos98 and FAT32 there is a 2 (or is it 4) Gb limit on AVI files.

  7. But I used 1900 MB files in VDub and the problem continued.
I donŽt know if its hardware problem or software.

I would suggest not using it. (Multisegment, I mean).

Believe it or not, it uses up SERIOUS CPU resources on your computer, which explains your dropping frames. Beats me as to why it uses so much CPU power, but it even warns in the help file somewhere that it does that.

I have a feeling youre running FAT32, otherwise this probably wouln't have crossed your mind... time for an upgrade to NTFS!

Really, V-Dub captures best under regular capture mode, under NTFS (so there's no limit in capture size). I have done AVI's as large as 22GB before (give or take).

  9. But, if I install Windows 2000 Professional at home, could I use multisegment ? If your answer is yes, IŽll install it and see what happens.
IŽll post here my results on the weekend.

    C YA !
