  1. The primary IDE controller for my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-6ZXC) started to screw itself recently for no reason in particular. Under device manager in Windows 98 it shows that the main IDE controller (Intel 82371AB/EB) and the secondary IDE controller are working perfectly fine but the primary IDE controller shows up as "non available" or "not working properly" or the drivers arent installed. I have reinstalled the drivers but it still refuses to work. The only problem that I have noticed it has caused so far is that anything with sound refuses to play. Does anyone have any suggestions as how to rectify this problem.

If you need any more info to solve this just put in your post or email me

    Thanks

I think your sound problem is not related to your IDE problem.

  4. Any ideas what is causing the sound problems then. When i play something under Winamp it comes up with an error message saying "Winamp cannot play blah blah due to another program using audio hardware" but its the only thing that should be using them
