Hello,
I'm using a Soyo Dragon mother board with an Athlon XP1800 cpue and 3 gig of ddr pc2400. My motherboard has a built in Raid promise adaptor and as of now i've been using my 2 indentical IBM 7200rpm 60gig harddrives as 2 independent drives. I it best to use it like am am doing now? HD 1=My Os/win xp and apps.. HD 2=video temp/storage. OR will it be better to combine the 2 drives in a Raid 0 setup. I hear the x-fer speed is better but im not never dropping frames when capturing DV video as of the current state of my setup. Resaon im scared of Raid 0 is that 1. Data loss/ Raid failure would be a big hit to me as i also store allot of my 3d level design for work and dont need any downtime.
Thanks in advance,
Noah

Noah,
I have the same motherboard but the P-4 Ultra running DDR 2700 mem ( and a paltry 512 mb at that ). I do use my Raid0 for my FTP, and I also have a Abit SA6R with the same HiPoint Raid controller, to with my 2 IBM 75GXP series 76.2 Gb on that were Raid0 until on of them decided to crap out on me and I lost all my video captures from that, since then i have reverted the IBMs ( foramtted both , lowleved the bad one ) to being seperate drives on the HiPoint. My FTP that runs off this one ( The Soyo )is RAID0 ( 2 Maxtors ) and run it 24/7 with no problems. So moral of the story, it will be a drive that will probally fail and not the controller, especiallythe IBM GXP 75 series. MY FTP is fully backed up in case of failure.
