  1. i have a svcd movie that is a bit too long to fit on one CD
[why can't the ripper make them uniform - first cd burnt fine]
what is the quickest way to cut off the extra credits at the end of the movie - i only need to shave less than 5MB off the size

    thanks

  2. Try using womble.

Rich has instructions on how to do simply editing.

I'd use bbmpeg instead. Besides being free, it allows you to cut by size so simply tell it to cut to the 790-795MB (factor in overhead.)

  4. I'd like to try bbmpeg, but I have a coupla questions. I've got a coupla avi's I'd like to merge and then cut (total size will be ~3.4G) to svcd-size pieces (i suppose I'll end up with ~4-and-a-half of those pieces). Will bbmpeg cut the 4.5 pieces automatically, or will I have to make 4.5 cuts? If the latter will be the case, how do I go about making the second, third, fourth, and the last half cut from the original merged mpeg? I mean, how will I know where to start the cut if I'm cutting by size as opposed to cutting by time? Or should I cut by time?

    Oh, no, I've gone cross-eyed.... %-O

You can do it either way.

you can simply set the total cut size to ~735MB's for a regualr cdr or ~795 for an 80 min cdr. It will process the entire file and export as many files as it takes, each one equal to the size you specified, except for the last one of course.

Or you can cut the first one to say 795MB's, then note the time that the first one ends. You can then manually set the start time for the second cut and again set the total size to 795MB's. You can continue doing this until the entire file has been processed. This is useful if you want to loop a few secs of the movie so that the cut isnt so abrubt.

  6. Sweet. Thanks for the help. I think I just may leave the 2 mpegs seperate, as they're each about 90 minutes. Using the bitrate calculator from vcdhelp, I'm encoding the avi's in tmpegnc using the VBR 2-pass method. After I've got the mpegs, I'll demux em with tmpgenc and cut each in half & remux em in bbmpeg. Then I should be able to fit it all on 4 discs, right? Does this sound like a viable solution?
