I run Win 8.1 and have a couple dozen AVI files (under 200MB in size) that I want to remove metadata from. I have confirmed the files play properly in both VLC and Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, and are not set to Read-Only.
In most (but not all) of these cases, MediaInfo reports the Writing Application as Super(C), which I assume refers to eRightSoft's Super (copyright) free video converter.
The very first tool I tried was abcAVI Tag Editor v1.8.1. I've used it probably thousands of times successfully, and occasionally not so much. When it doesn't, it reads the files, opens to the Total AVI Structure tab, and displays the following error:
Errors occurred while analyzing structure of<filename> (Read RIFF chunk header at <number>)
File <filename> has been opened in read-only mode.
Sure enough, if abcAVI hasn't locked up, if I try to change the metadata, abcAVI doesn't actually save the changes.
When that didn't work, I used Properties->Details->Remove Properties and Personal Information->Create a copy with all possible properties removed. Apparently in these cases, Windows doesn't consider "Title" and "Contributing Artist" to be properties that are possible to be removed.
In the past, the failure rate of abcAVI has been so remote that I've worked around this problem by loading MKVToolNix GUI, dropping the AVI into it, and creating an MKV out of it. In a couple seconds, I have a metadata free version.
I don't mind doing this once or twice a day, but it gets to be an annoyance for a couple dozen files. Does anyone know of a better way (short of learning: [1] MKVMerge CLI commands and [2] how to create a BAT file that loops through all files)?

Never mind... I figured out how to modify Baldricks FFMPEG answer to do the job. All I had to do was add a line md newfiles to the BAT file and change mov to avi.
This batch file is now in my System32 folder

Any reason why you created new thread instead raise all this in a old one?
you can substitute -c:v and -c:a by simple -c copy -
Yes, because in other forums I get yelled at for talking about MY problem when the thread was started with someone else's problem.
