    Hello all

Hope this isn't a really redundant to the section post, but being as little as "I" know on the topic, I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how I can find out if a disk I have is SL, or DL.

The disk in question is a 50g, but from looking at what is out there, I see that could be either way, so was hoping to find out.

I have read a few things an seen one possible way would be something from the codes on the center if the underside of the disk, an I have looked at those, but I do not see any that have the letters, SL or DL in them.

As well I have tried the program VSO Inspector, an the only things it lists for the Physical section were:

    Media Type: BD-R Sequential
    Media ID: N/A
    Speeds: 1x
    Capacity: 46 GB
    Sectors: 24121344

So I don't know if any of that helps.

The other thing I might wonder if it is telling is that, I do kind see two ring sections at the center of the underside of the disk. One seems to be a more inner to the other, but both kinda seem to have the same sets of coding stuff.

One seems to be a darker gray color an is the inner ring, an the other seems more brown or light goal an is the larger outer ring.

Anyway, don't know if that means anything.

So if anyone has any help they can give on the topic, it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. AFAK blu ray disks have 25 GB per layer, so your 50 GB disk is dual layer.

    You may be right.
For me I was taking a look at NewEgg, an saw sections under the 50g choice for both read only an write of either no listing, or DL. I then clicked on some of the no listing an even found things like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4P025Z8745&cm_re=blank_blu_ray_dis...8745-_-Product

Which upon looking at the product closer, seems like it was listed they incorrectly an is in fact a DL product.

As well for the others listed, I at least have yet to find a 50g that is not a DL.

    Thanks

Thanks greatly for the recommendations redwudz, am working with the disks today, but when I get a chance, will try those as they do seem to provide some great info.

    Thanks again.
