I filmed my friends band a few days ago. I put a camcorder on a tripod so it was steady, but every time the snare drum is hit the picture shakes a little. Is there a program that can smooth that out or get rid of the shakyness? The table and the tripod were pretty still so I think the loud audio caused the picture to jump a little. I tried Deshaker but it didn't help too much.
I recorded audio from the soundboard so next time I think i can set the mic to external cam and put a dummy pin in the slot.

It depends on the type of "shakiness" , and possibly on the type of camera (cmos sensor, rolling shutter) .
Can you post a small video sample ? -
I'll try to upload one...Type of camera was Sony HDR-CX580V. I have Mercalli V3 too and analyzing it so I'm hoping that'll work.

vibrations can be difficult for most CMOS sensors to handle (for the ones that don't have global shutters) - there will be some "jello" or "wobble" to the picture, not just x,y translation movement . Different parts of the frame move in different directions because the image isn't scanned by the sensor as a whole . Mercalli v4 (not v3) tends to do a better job of correcting CMOS wobble issues than other stabilizers

Gotcha, thank you for the help. It's definitely more of a wobble than x/y. Is Mercalli V4 the best program out there for jello/wobble do you think?

First a disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with mercalli in any way. I've used V2 for a long time, and never upgraded to V3 because it wasn't a significant improvement. But V4 is a significant improvement and worth it for the rolling shutter repair alone IMO. Is it "perfect" - no. But for most generic CMOS issues, yes, IMO it tends to be the "best" overall. There are some situations, some shots, where After Effects's warp stabilizer is better, some shots where NukeX's rolling shutter repair is better. Sometimes you mix & match. Sometimes you use other manipulations. It all depends on the specific shot characteristics

I had the same problem on a recent recording at a concert, the bass was loud and on every kick of the bass drum the camcorder was shaking. On those moments the image is getting blurry due to shaking. If the image in your video has this symptom, that is the image is getting blurry on shake, you cannot correct it. If you mean by shake that the image jumped once when they hit the snare drum, but it remained sharp anyway, you can correct that.
