I am trying to use AVI Demux & Virtual Dub to remove the first 18 seconds of a video exactly the way I want said thing to be removed & the video output is not starting the way it should. Why is this ? Why am I having so much trouble with something that should be so simple for these programs but they are giving me a hard time & I am not looking to re encode or re convert just to remove these seconds

If your 18 second mark is not on a key frame then it is not simple for most programs without re-encoding.

In VirtualDub delete the selected part, then:
Video > Smart rendering > Compression and select the same codec as the source (XviD?) then save.

Am I deleting the section I don't want ? How do I "delete" it ? Also if I select Smart Rendering & then save a new file it does work. But in VLC the video resolution changes / gets a little bigger 10 seconds or so into it ? That is weird

Click Go > Go To Frame.. and insert the frame time, then click the little flag thingy under the slider.
    Edit > Delete.

That does not seem to work. The new file still starts no where near I am telling it to. Smart Render works but in VLC the new video file resolution changes / gets a little bigger 10 seconds or so into it ? That is weird

Go back up to post #4 and check that all parameters are the same (frame size, bitrate, etc.) and try again?

It is a 800mb AVI / XVID with one frame size & one video & one audio codec, birate etc. Everything is the same. It is only VLC that does that weird resize thing
