  1. Please answer true or false, and if false explain what's wrong with my thinking (these are my current assumptions for how all this spaghetti code is supposed to work; total n00b attempting to learn).

    True or false:
    0. Best freeware tools are smartripper, dvd2avi, vob2audio, avsgen, vdub, tmpgenc and besweet.
    1. Paying for nero is better than using freeware burning proggies.
    2. IVTC is not needed when working with DVD vob files; just use forced film setting in dvd2avi when saving project and interlacing is gone.
    3. When using vdub to turn an avs file into a vdr file for frameserving to tmpgenc, the compression settings and filters are irrelevant; your just making a vdr file for the sole purpose of frameserving.
    4. The best way to eliminate blocky output is to lower resolution.

I've more questions but hopefully this will serve as a springboard for some debate and learning. Peace.

  2. 115 Views and not one reply. Thanks for the sour persimmons, cousin (name that reference!).

    Here are the answers.
    0. True.
    1. True.
    2. True.
    3. False. Filter with direct stream copy off and/or add/delete frames with direct stream copy on.
    4. False. Raise bit rate to max that your dvd player can handle, then consider lowering resolution if it won't play.

    Later, freaks.
