  1. Hello:

I am creating a video course on travel. However, the platform host requires me to change video dimensions to 16:9 aspect ratio. As I understand, my video (see link) is in 1280 x 720 format but is it in 16:9?? I am not sure.

I tried fixing the aspect ratio to 16:9 using available on-line software, but the platform host still suggests that the video is lacking 16:9 aspect ratio. I have tried everything, and now reverted to this forum to find help. Please if someone can take a look at my video and suggest how to bring it to 16:9? Thanks in advance.

Your video is 16:9 but I guess they don't want any black borders.

You could crop it or change your browser to a 16:9 resolution and capture just the browser area again.

As far as I can see in MediaInfo and VLC, the sample is correctly flagged and played back as 16:9.

EDIT: Damn, lost the race against Baldrick. Again.

Like Baldrick says, your video is already 16:9. It's a 4:3 image inside a 16:9 frame, so it has side borders. You can enlarge the frame until it fills the sides. You won't have black borders, but you'll lost a big part of the top and bottom of the image, and you'll blur it.

    Why don't people understand this?

  6. Thanks for all your help. Regarding the discussion, I have been able to modify my video to a certain aspect i.e. 16:9 dimenesions. Please see the file attached. However, there is still black border on top and bottom of the video. At least it seems better... Basically, my question is:

Is it possible to deliver a video in 16:9 (1280 x 720) format with a full window without borders? I am recording my videos in 1024 x 728 and producing it in the same dimensions in camtasia 8, and then trying to mantain 16:9 and 1280x720 without cutting any part of the screen. HELP ME PLEASE....

Sorry but you can't have it both ways. Assuming the 1024x728 video is in the correct aspect ratio (are you sure you don't mean 1024x768?), you can do a direct resize to 1280x720 keeping all the active video but in the process making everything and everyone too wide and fat. Or you can crop to a 1.78:1 ratio and then resize to 1280x720.

You can crop it down to 1024x576 and then resize to 1280x720, if it absolutely has to be 1.78:1 (what you're calling 16:9).

I see no black bars in the sam.mp4.

I don't see any black bars in sam.mp4, either. What I do see is a much softer image, less snappy contrast, and a very sizeable chunk of the lower part of the original image is cut off.
