  1. I tried burning a DVD using Recordnow 3.03 that I got free with my PC, rather than Nero (which works fine).

    I followed the guide at...

    http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/recnow.html

    ...using
"UDF with Joilet- up to 106 in length, any char, plus Joilet, plus 8 + 3 tree (Bridge)"

...file system type, which I thought was wrong but I tried it anyway. I also had the VIDEO_TS folder in lower case (video_ts). The burned disk played fine on my pc but wasn't recognised by my playstation 2-which has no problem with the dvd's I burn with Nero.

Is my mistake simple having the VIDEO_TS folder in lower case (ie, I could've still burned it as-is with Joilet) or do I need to burn without Joilet (which should also make the video_ts folder upper-case)???

I could not get it to work any other way. It will probably work for you as well.

  3. I guess I'll give recordnow a miss then- seems like too much trouble, but thanks for the tip.

I had no problem with nero using the guide here...

    http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/nero.html

...so I'll stick to that I think...

Incidently, checking the Apple site...the Apple DVD-R disks claim to be compatible with your Sony DVP-S7700. They work fine in my Sony DVP-NS700P ( and my Sony PSX2 ).
