Does anyone know if it is possible to save and resume a file conversion??

I don't know of a way to resume encoding, however, you can pause encoding to free up the cpu by selecting "stop" during the encode at which point the program will pause and ask you if you wish to abort the encode. At this point the CPU will be free for other tasks while it waits for a reply. Then when your ready to continue the encoding select no or cancel and the encoding will resume.
