    Hello!

The PAL or the NTSC AVCHD camcorders record cleaner video picture at the same bitrate?

Forexample: PAL Canon LEGRIA HF G30 or NTSC Canon LEGRIA HF G30 ?

Because I like to capture video frames as pictures....

    My concept:
Pal record 25p/50i 50p, the NTSC record 30p/60i/60p pictures/sec, therefore I think the compression ratio/frame of the NTSC camcorders are worse. Do you know such comparisons?

But: Is this true in practical life?

    Thank you fro your reply!

You would never choose a camcorder based on this.

While it's true that "PAL" framerates give you a theoretical 20% quality boost (good luck noticing it though), using a 50Hz camera under certain 60Hz lighting can give flickering - which is going to kill the compression algorithm and more than outweigh any quality gain.

Some "NTSC" camcorders have a 24p option.

People choose between the two based on price, local availability, compatibility with local video standards and equipment, and the flicker problem under certain lighting. If a theoretical 20% quality boost (invisible unless there's fast motion; maybe invisible even then) is more important than all these things, then maybe a still camera which can shoot 6-10 full resolution (10MP+) frames per second would be more appropriate?

    Cheers,
    David.
