  1. Hi!
I want to buy a camcorder Panasonic HDC TM700 model (or SD700), full HD. I have to choise between USA models that has 60fps at full HD resolution and European models that has 50fps at the same resolution!! I live in Europe, but in Europe the price is more expensive for the same camera that in USA. What should I buy? There could be other things diferent between this standards (SUA / Europe - NTSC / PAL)? I mentioned that I will intend to edit my videos, but for the moment I have not a computer fast enough to edit AVCHD. Thank you!!

NTSC HD camcorders are better for converting to PAL, the only real difference is the fame rate with the PAL (25/50) being harder to convert to NTSC (30/60), but I guess it really depends on what you wish to do with the end product, dvd, blu-ray or internet files, but if you can get a warranty for the U.S. model go for that if it cheaper.

  3. I have no idea how to storage the films, I think it will be draft, on one big HDD. Maybe I will convert to some divx or H264 to play in my TV LCD screen, that can play this files from USB connection. What programs do I need to convert AVCHD? and what programs is the best to edit this (1080p)? Thanks.

It's best of you keep all your RAW files backed up on a USB harddrive, as SD card are not very good for long term storage, and also back-up to dvd-r or blu-ray data discs just in case the hard-drive fails, Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 and the Free multiAVCHD will do everything you need, and to burn imgburn.

This isn't right. Conversion from 50i>60i or 60i>50i is equally difficult.

The only comparatively easy conversion is between 24p (from NTSC camcorder) and 25p (from PAL camcorder), but not everyone wants the film look, and not all camcorders offer it.

It doesn't matter for internet use, or for modern European TVs which display anything, but there are other potential problems.

    This covers it all...

  6. Thank you all! I bought Panasonic Tm700 from USA. I wait to arrive in few days. I hope I will use it without problem in EU (pal country) but on large LCD 1080p.
