  1. Can someone tell me how to burn an AVI file to a vcd so I can watch it on my dvd player? I have the movie training day, two files about 650mb in avi format. I try to use nero to burn it as a vcd but it says encoding problem and does not burn. What do I need to do? can you give me the steps on buring a avi to vcd thanks.

    DoGGx23,

Not very nice of you condone
...but he is right you know, most questions can be answered in the How-To guides.
Try take a look and see if that doesn't bring you on track, otherwise you are of course more than welcome to ask for explanation on specific procedures, but give you the whole run-down is just a hazzle when the guide is already there.

  5. sorry... i am following the guides right now. In one of the guides on how to convert avi to mpeg, how come I can't preview the movie before i start converting it? I follow the instrustions and when I click on file the preview all I get is a black screen. I am using the lastest version of TMPGEnc. Here the link to the "How to" guides I am following.
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm

Please tell me what I am doing wrong before I start to convert it. Will the converting process take a long time? What is the average time when converting? Thank you for your help guys.

    DoGGx23,

I somehow doubt that your movie there is a true .avi file. More likely that it's a DivX using the .avi extension on the file.
...so try and look at the DivX guide instead.

  8. Yea I think it's a Divx with an AVI extension too.... Here's what I did so far, After converting cd1 of training day avi to mpeg it went from 650mb to like over 1 gig. What am I doing wrong? How come the file got so big? Since I was following the wrong "How to" guide is that the reason why my file was so big? What I need to follow is the dvix avi to vcd guide am I right?

  9. why dont you try the method of Y2flyy and convert the .avi to .asf then convert that into .mpg (SVCD) (i use king viper's template in the Tools section i think ) , and you will get an even smaller file then your input. truly amazing. I dont care what anybody says, you barely lose any of the quality; of course, thats based on how you converted it to .asf. I convert .avi's with On-Demand Producer from the makers of Sonic Foundry.
