Hi all, first of all, i have studio pctv pro and using vdub.
I also have 1600XP on winXP and 512 ram.
I have no problem with them except that currently I use Hyuffand whenever i capture at 640x480, the file got too big.
Very big.
Is there any other codec that is decent in terms of quality other than Hyuff that i can use to capture the tv in realtime without loosing any frames ?
I know that there are some codec that save the file directly into mpeg but I heard that it's blocky. Also, I head that MJPG is not good for video.
I have tried Dixv but the audio was un-sync.
Besides can any body give me a link that explain how to tune the dixv parameter ? since dixv result is pretty small.
Any body please ? Thanks

I use Huffy too, and yeah, the files do get huge. At 720x480, a 50 minute file can take 30gigs. Yikes!
It is still around a 3:1 compression ratio though, and lossless. For video you're planning on working with later, I've found Huffy hard to beat. It's a pretty simple tradeoff: quality vs. quantity. You want the high quality video, you need more space to put it in.
MPEG seems to be generally considered an archival format - when you're done editing, filtering, and generally fiddling with the video and ready to call it done, *that's* when you go to MPEG.
Just my $.02
