ilo dvdr04 dvd recorder and annoying play/rw/fw on screen image

i am experimenting with other capture equipment options via lossless capturing via pass-through if possible.

i noticed that this on screen image doesn't go away when i press all options on the unit itself. some of the settings seem to be frozen and maybe my unit is acting up. but since i lost the remote i can't be sure, but some of the buttons on the unit does not seem to activate all the settings on the unit, so i'm not sure if it is possible to remove by some setting via remote or unit.

so, does anyone know if their is an ilo setting to shut this on screen image off ?

otherwise, i was thinking about trying another dvd recorder with firewire input, the Toshiba DR430 has fw input, am thinking of picking one up at bestbuy. and if anyone know how its pass-through quality is, logo or on screen image, etc. thank you.

Hi vhelp, that menu bar shows up when the DV link input is selected as a source. The source button on the ILO R04 is to the right of the record button (with the "to and from" arrows). If you're recording (or passtrough) using DV link input you might be out of luck in trying to turn it off, I'm not sure as I don't use the DV link. You can try pressing the source button and cycling through the inputs/sources. If you had the remote (almost every ILO/Liteon remote would do) I would suggest doing a "restore" of the system or even reapply the firmware.

i will look around for an advanced universal remote, one that contrls dvd recorders, and try whatever i can. otherwise i will also pick up a toshiba dr430 since that is the last dvd recorder available. i only need for pass-through features. i don't think it has line sync or tbc like features (i have not found any info on it here or anywhere else via google search) so i'm ok with that.

the one last issue i have with the ilo is that the drive door won't close. even when i turn the unit off, it pushes out. cd or not cd.

oh..if anyone knows if pass-through shows w/out on screen image, that would be great. i can return the dr430 if that is the case.. thank you.

i picked up the Sony remote commander RM-VZ320 (Ultra 3x 7 devices) universal remote control. but no success.

as it turns out, it is the ilo causing the problem. because the cd drive door won't close, it cannot complete the cyle to refresh the screen to the new confuration screens, since the door won't close it repeats and then stops and gives up at the same screen. the only changes i can make on the ilo is the source inputs.

i also picked up the toshiba dr430 for the dv pass-through. it works well, the on screen image is removed via display key toggle.
