My AVI Files that I downloaded WON'T Play!!! Please Help>>

I have downloaded the movie Panic Room from iMesh, but something is wrong with it. It plays, but there is absolutely NO sound or picture. It is just all pitch black when I double clikc on the file. How can I fix this? Here is what the file name looks like:

panic.room.-telesync[2of2].asf[OK].avi

Same boat here buddy! I have tried every codec I can think of but it still doesn't work.

I also tried to rename it to different extensions such as asf, wmv, and mpg. None of it worked at all.

Sometimes when you download movies and other files they don't always work. This is not always your fault. The person who either ripped or put that on the net probably has some problems.

Try re-saving the file with VirtualDub software. Look at the CONVERT menu in this forum. I had the same problem and this has helped.

panic.room.-telesync[2of2].asf[OK].avi

This person is telling you its "panic.room.-telesync[2of2].asf"
the .avi has been added so it shows up in the AVI list on a search.

If you want to convert ASF files use Vdub 1.3c

Apart from that make sure you have Windows media player 6 or above installed.
