I just upgraded from a really old laptop. 2009 Asus 6 Gigs ram. shared Video. Etc. And I have been running sony vegas pro 11 on this laptop and have rendered over 150 videos this year.
Problem is I just upgraded to a desktop. 8 Gig 1600Mhz Ram. i5-3570k processor. intel hd 4000 graphics. Decent motherboard. I went through and I tested out some games I play and I am getting phenomenal performance compared to my laptop.
So I sit down to render some video in Sony Vegas Pro -- and literally it is the slowest thing ever. I do not have a graphics card yet -- but the cpu i have has a built in GPU. Which out performs my laptop by milestones. But rendering on my new desktop is soooo insanely slow I think it would probably take 5 hours to render a 5 minute video. I just canceled it as the frames were barely moving.
I tried to edit, as I normally do with the settings pictured below;
And I got this error.
So then I tried some other recommendations I found online and used this setting, and the rendering begins with no Error --- but.. its soooo slow. slower than my very out of date laptop. in 2minutes of rendering I was 0% complete and only 37 frames had been rendered. While on the lap top in one minute it renders 200 frames.
Here is a picture of the slow rendering.....
Moral of the story my lap top sucks. My new desktop is beast. -- yet the lap top out performs the desktop in rendering by way more!![]()
I am wondering if its a codec issue? I installed Xvid, and Divx, I am not a genius at this at all but I know something is very wrong. Please help if you can. <3

Hope that helps understand my problem. -
Ur problem seems to be ur processor which I think u should please change it at the earliest. Maybe that is defective and it is not giving u the result.

you're sure you are comparing apples to apples right? the exact same project with the same settings? have you opened up the task manager and looked at memory and cpu usage on both computers? is the new one overheating? run something to watch the temps and fan speeds like cpuid hardware monitor.

Thanks everyone for responding and giving me some ideas.
I checked the Task Manager performance during render and the Cpu isn't going above 5%.
I read the Article about Ram stuff... and It's very complex and doesn't really provide me any straight forward fixes that my feeble mind can grasp but was informative none the less. I did switch ram to 1300 mhz instead of 1600 mhz and no change in performance.
In terms of other things I am doing gaming like a charm, performance exceeding that of my laptop, rightly so.
Its a hardware bottleneck somewhere and I am not sure how to start finding it. I am gonna try Sony Vegas Pro 12 maybe there is something in it that will work better with my hardware configuration.
I'll let ya'll know! Ty. -
Just installed full version of Vegas Pro 12 deluxe or whatever.
Rendered. Was like HOLY F OMFG Fast super render 1080p HD.
And I screamed out YES! Really loud. Win.
Thanks.
I guess Vegas Pro 12 is just more suitable for newer hardware *shrug* either way. simple fix. Super fast rendering now i am soooo happy so much better than my lap top.
