  1. I need to use ASFBIN and I downloaded the latest version, unzipped, installed and ran and so far so good.
    I entered the file to use and hit the ARROWS <<<<< and Windows 7, 64bit, Home Premium stops the program and I get the usual,

    Asfbin Windows Application ( window)

    Asfbin Windows Application has stopped working

    A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
    Windows will close and the program and notify if a solution.....

    I simply will not get past the selection of an ASF file.

    Anyone know why Win 7 64bit, Home Premium will not run on my HP?

    did you make sure you have -
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
    installed.

    also you might want to try and run it as administrator.

    I can't remember whether or not asfbin requires .NET, either. If the program actually does run but crashes after a file is loaded, however, I'd tend to believe the OP has everything asfbin needs to run.

    jagman: Have you tried more than one ASF, to see if the problem happens with all of them? (If you're having trouble finding other ASF files to test, you can use WMV/WMA files, and rename them to .ASF, if necessary - Windows Media files are actually still ASF streams.) If the problem doesn't happen with other files, you might run the problem ASF through MediaInfo, and see if it mentions anything that might be causing issues (such as the stream having DRM encoding, for example). Heck, it's probably a good idea to do that regardless.
