  1. Hi,

I know many people have posted similar problem but I don't know where I should first start

This was my first SVCD after I RIPPED a 2.5 hours long movie.

    I used SEFY's Classical guide.

    I am having following problems
    1) the SVCD when played on DVD player is SHAKY and JUMPY.
    2) IThe CHAPTER feature to scroll to next chapter does NOT work.

Now people have suggested various things to try. I want to know where should I start with.

The bit rate I used were around 1500 - 1700. I am trying to break the movie into 3 CD's.

Now I dont want to reencode at TMPGENC only to find that was not the cause. Are there any setting that I missed somewhere??

The MPEG plays fine on my computer though

    Thank you for ur help

  2. Usually when this happens, it means the wrong Field Order was chosen, with new TMPGEnc Wizard, it knows how to select the correct Field Order, but like with everything in life, it might have gone wrong.

Either way, it would require re-encoding, I would suggest you first do a 5 min encoding with Field Order A, and then the same 5 min do with Field Order B, and then burn both on a CDRW and see how they play on the TV.

  3. In my experience, your jittery video is probably caused by your blank CD-R. I get this every time I use the cheap gold CompUSA CD-Rs. Try a high-quality CD-R like a TDK. Some DVD players will only accept certain kinds of CD-Rs ... look at the brown "OTHER" menu to your left and click "DVD Players." Look up your make and model of DVD player, and see if others have left comments. Every DVD player is different and has different capabilities.

Your bitrate is certainly not too high, but it might be too low. It could be that your DVD player will only accept the standard SVCD bitrate. (2048 kbps)

You will simply need to experiment. First try encoding about 5 minutes of video with TMPegEnc using the Standard SVCD template (2048 kbps). Feel free to experiment with other bitrates too. Burn the files to your CD-R. Try playing each file. If the standard bitrate plays OK, you know that is your problem. Otherwise, you may need to experiment with other brands of CD-Rs. I wish I could tell you something easier, but the only way you will get this right is by experimenting.
