Yup, I'm a newbie. I did not see a topic heading that covered this problem, so here is a summary:
I wish to use my Canon Vixia to record oral history interviews. Good audio is important. I got an Azden kit with wireless lapel mic and receiver, plus a normal electret mic with cord. Both have 3.5 mm mono plugs. The wireless mic works well, but when I replace it with the corded mic it is dead. I look at the level display on the camera, which works fine with its internal mic but does not respond with the Azden mic. However, the Azden mic will work OK connected to my laptop.
The Vixia input is a 3.5mm stereo socket. I might think I needed a mono/stereo convertor if the wireless mic did not work either.
Any ideas?
