Sometime ago I converted all my tapes of home movies to DVD's, I think I used MyDVD or a similar program. The end result was a menu with the related videos displayed in them. The problem is that there are a total of 15 videos on this one DVD, all the menu boxes are displayed OK but when I come to play it the DVD player spits the dummy about three-quarters way through. The tapes were re-used so is there any way I can recover the information from the DVD and record it on several DVD's. I have tried DVD ripper and DVD shrink but they will not even open the DVD.
I have tried to play it on about five different brands of players and blu-ray all with the same result.
Windows explorer shows all the files and the first three-quarters play BUT it is an inverted mirror image on the PC, video players are OK..
    Can anyone help.

    Probably bad media.

You can try "rip" with dvddecrypter or dvdfab decrypter. If they fail you can try some of the dvd recovery tools like isobuster or cd roller.

Thanks for the suggestions, managed to recover 10 of the 15 files. Windows explorer shows the missing files 52, 37, 51 & 823 Mb in size respectively but they will not read with the programs mentioned

  4. Since Windows sees them, can you drag-and-drop?

Try manono's suggestion but most likely there are bad areas on the DVD and that's why you are unable to copy them - the bad areas are where these files are located. Definitely get and use the free version of DVDFab as it will sometimes continue to try to rip over the course of many hours and it may eventually get the files if you leave it running long enough, like 12-24 hours. Also try another DVD drive if you have access to one. Another drive might have better luck with your disc and read it long enough to get the files copied.
