    Hi,

    I'm trying to use BD-RB (ver 0.36.09) to shrink a BD-50 to BD-25 (original size 32GB) with full backup (remove other languages). However, the output size is larger than set in the program (set to 23450MB, actual 24943MB, larger than BD-25 [23866]).

    The disk being copied is Christmas Carol (2010).

    I have previously copied several BD-50s successfully, I just can't get this one to work.

    Running Inspect, I get the following:

    - Windows Version: 6.1 [7600]
    - AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.8.0, Ok
    - HAALI Splitter: Isn't recommended version
    - FFDSHOW: 3154, not recommended version
    - WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Ok
    - WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
    - WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Ok
    - FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
    - FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libmpeg2": Ok
    - FFDSHOW AVC set to "ffmpeg-mt": Ok
    - BD Rebuilder v0.36.0.9, Ok
    - X264: Ok
    - AFTEN: Ok
    - FAAC: Ok
    - MP4BOX: Ok
    - WAVI: Ok
    - TSMUXER: Ok

    ffdshow is latest build (tried updating when I first had the problem to latest), Haali splitter shouldn't have any effect on file size detection?.

    The two log files for the output show the following:

    BD-Rebuilder:
    - Input BD size: 32.76 GB
    - Approximate total content: [02:23:02.823]
    - Target BD size: 22.90 GB

    Disk INI:
    SOURCE_SIZE=35180285885
    SOURCE_VIDEO_SIZE=34608986112
    TARGET_SIZE=24589107200
    REDUCTION=.693976048569429

    I'm currently doing another blu-ray, so I'll see if the error was to do with the disk (maybe summing audio sizes wrong?)

    Any ideas as to how I could get the disk to be smaller?

  2. Your versions of ffdshow and Haali are not those recommended (i.e. tested) by jdobbs. You may get away with it, but the bug report thread is full of problems traceable to the user refusing to use recommended versions. Some versions of ffdshow and Haali are more problematic than others. The tested versions are available here:

    Okay, that's out of the way. Your problem is probably something besides the decoder/splitter you're using. Most likely it's just a peculiarity of that particular disc, and remember BDRB is still beta.

    If it's only this one disc, you can set a custom output size of, say, 22000MB and probably be close enough.

    And welcome to the forum.

    I always use custom size and start at 25,000. If it's too big, I work backwards until I get a file size of 23.2gb. For example, if I start out using 25,000 and the final bd size is 23.6gb then I'll subtract 4,000 from the 25,000 (24,600).

    Tried another BD, which completed right on target (23450). Retried the one that wasn't working at 22000, also completed exactly on size. So there was something it didn't like about 23450 for that disc.

    Quite likely it's the audio, yes.
