Some help requested pleeeeease...?

Hi

I have been using 'Direct Connect' to DL all my movies in the past, but am getting fed up of the hubs always being full. I read here the other day that some people use 'Agent'. So I have downloaded Agent and set up the Newsgroups.

Could somebody please give me a few steps as to what I need to do next. I heve read something about 'PARS', do I need to dl a prog for this to?

Any advice would be much appreciated...

forget agent, use something like Newsgrabber 3 or Newsbin Pro, they are much better than agent for grabbing binaries of usenent. Pars are very useful as it's rar that you get every file in a rar set posted, some will be missing some will short. Pars act like fillers and you need to find smartpar.exe to check the Par sets, Smartpar will check the rar sets to make sure they are full and will fill in missing rars or complete those that are short. Also upgrade you version of Winrar to 2.9 as I am starting to see posts in 2.9 rar format ( all the files have rar extension, yet are sequential, winrar 2.8 cannot open them ), also the latest version of Newsgrabber ( what I use since you can d/l all post by a given author ) and Newsbin support yenc encoding which is also starting to see support ( despite objections in the usenet community ) as a lot of post are now yenc encoded with par sets.

finally i hope your isp has good mesage retention ro you have more than one server to grab from as sometimes you need to hunt another server for fills. good luck.
