  1. I have a bunch of MKVs and MP4s and I would like to know what is the simplest DVD authoring program out there. I'm not interested in having menues nor chapters nor titles. I simply want to burn those files into a DVD that will play on an old DVD player I have. The DVD player doesn't have support for a lot of the newer file formats.

    Thanks in advance

    ConvertXtodvd, not free though.
DVD Flick, free but doesn't support some newer sources.
AVStoDVD, free and support most stuff but probably not the simpliest.

If your files are Mpeg/m2v/mpv/vob/ts files you could also try Simple DVD Creator - it's also free. If you'd like to convert your files to mpeg first try 'Any Video Converter' When using Simple DVD Creator - each file you have can be imported as a separate title. The programme will demux and mux each Mpeg file automatically - no menus but chapters are optional and it generally creates quicker than DVD Flick. Running SDC: When you open the programme there is a window at the top called titles, but you load your files via the 'Title Properties' below click >> and navigate to you first file. It will start to demux/mux, but don't worry, that's what's supposed to happen. Once it's demuxed/muxed it you can go up to Add, click it and you will have title 2 - navigate to your second file and open it - it will mux again and you can keep going with all your files. The programme will not shrink files, so don't load more that three hours worth of files for one disk, When you've finished loading you can add chapters for easy navigation if you want. (just unntick if you don't want chapters) Before you Author - navigate to destination folder by clicking >> Then when you're happy click 'Author DVD' When it's finished there should be a VIDEO-TS folder in your chosen destination. Use Imgburn to burn your disk: Open and load this video_ts file to Imgburn in Build mode (see Mode at the top) and it will create a burnable ISO file. Name it [name].iso and save it onto your hard drive Once you've built the iso file in Imgburn switch to 'write', again under mode, load your named iso file and burn. It should play in your standalone.
