This weekend I am going to try my first Bluray conversions. It seems from reading through this forum that, if I want, I could simply rip the BD to my HDD, then use MakeMKV to convert it to a streaming format. Is this true? I am so used to having to run my DVD rips through an Inverse Telecine or Deinterlace filter first, before converting.

  3. If the BD is a theatrical release (e.g Hollywood) , >99.9% will be native 24p, thus no need to IVTC or deinterlace

By "streaming", if you mean local media streaming, then yes, it will work if your device supports it

If you mean web streaming, HTTP , RTP, RTMP, etc... then no, because MKV isn't supported unless it's webm with HTML5

I apologize for that Redwudz, I was too excited about the prospect of a simpler process than I'm used to.

Thanks PDR. Yes I will be streaming locally on my home network. I tried MakeMKV on a regular DVD and it worked beautifully.

On a side not,e has anyone noticed that the MakeMKV website is down? I was able to download the software from the mirror still, I just hope the developers didn't abandon the software.
