Which PC speakers would you recommend for me?

Currently im using the harman kardon soundsticks which arent too bad.

Howi mportant is the soundcard for how the sound actually comes out? Or does it not matter about the soundcard?

I was wondering if you could advise me as to whether i should either go for surround sound of just desktop speakers (with a sub)

If so which brands do you prefer and why?

I'm after crystal clear quality with a nice bass

    Cheers.

  2. M-Audio has decent sounding speakers (unlike Creative, Logitech, etc.). But the cost of entry for a pair of stereo speakers is about US$100:

You won't get very deep bass out of those though. They sell a sub but it's pretty expensive:

They have standard red/white RCA connectors in the back. You just need a stereo 3.5 mm pin plug to RCA cable:

I don't remember if they come with the cable or not.

Remember, you won't get deep bass out of these. You'll need a sub for that. What you will get is very even, clean sound from the upper bass to the high end.

It comes with speaker wire to connect the right speaker to the left (which contains the electronics).

    Note, they're fairly large for computer speakers: 7.9" (H) x 5.3" (W) x 6.3" (D)

Do u know what Altex lansing are supposed to be like for their surround sound?
Bought those m audio stereo speakers and are fantastic! havnt got the sub yet though.
Now im after some 5.1 speakers for the other pc as the logitechs i use have just died. (No surprise there as they're cheap pieces of crap)
After a decent quality surround sound and want to avoid naff brands like creative and logitech. Was just wondering what you guys could reocmmend for a decent speaker brand for pcs surround sound?

    Thanks so much.

  9. IMHO you have to listen to the speakers you are considering.

In my case the computer is using the HDTV as a display and the sound is connected to the 7.1 receiver on the other side of the TV from the computer. SO in essence I use my surround system as speakers.

BTW it is Altec Lansing for the real brand If you really are seeing Altex Lansing then they'd be poor clones.

Sort of like in NYC you could buy TDK VHS blanks or pay a lot less and get TKD VHS blanks which were garbage. I know I bought some one time by not paying attention. They looked like the real thing in the packaging except for being TKD brand.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.
