  1. Windows 7 64-bit
    Latest MPC-HC64

The media file is from Adode Media Encoder. If the video/audio mux is on, the output file has extension m2t and it plays fine. If mux is off, the video has extension m4v. MPC-HC will report "Cannot render the file" and there is no pop up error. File -> Properties is greyed out.

The same file plays fine in Windows Media Player.

This is recent but I am not sure what changed. It happens on both an old machine and a brand new laptop with no other media player installed.

Could anyone help troubleshooting this one?

    Thanks!

  2. I don't think you have a trouble to shoot. I'm pretty sure MPC-HC won't play m4v files (I know it doesn't on my PC, whereas VLC Player will).

  3. It worked before and it's the only player that can playback the m4v and ac3 file at the same time. In the 32-bit version, if Haali splitter is chosen, it can play back audio with very slow video playback (out of sync), probably due to the MainConcept decoder.

Is there a 64-bit version of Haali Splitter? Thanks!

  4. Try remuxing with mkvmerge or avidemux. If you're not using ffdshow, then I'd suggest trying it with haali. If you're using MPH-HC x64, then stop. Use x86, as using x64 is still relatively buggy.

Check the doom9 forums for further research, but I've zero problems with my Win7x64 installation playing all m4v files. As I understand it, the haali matroska splitter still comes pre-packaged with x64 instructions, although I am not sure of that.

You should also look into LAV Filters as an alternative to haali.

  5. What do you mean by remuxing? The m4v has no audio. I am using x64 but have also tried x86. Will give x86 another try.

Why don't you just mux the M4V and AC3 together into an M2T, MP4 or MKV?

I think i resolved this problem by installing and setting up ffdshow.

Adobe Encore uses separate video and audio files.

Is it a matter of splitter? Or is it a problem with codec?
