I back up my DVD to a network drive and access this drive via my TV and my stand alone Sony networked Blu-Ray player. My Blu-ray player is a stand-alone model that is connect directly to my TV (not my computer).

I back up my DVD to my network drive using FabDVD in DVD format. Recently, I found two movies where my Blu-Ray does not "see" 1 of the VOB files. It plays all the other VOB files but not the missing one. In other words it does not play the whole movie. It does play all the VOB files that it sees.

I thought the backup did not copy the missing VOB file on to my drive but when I go to the network drive via my computer and look into the movie DVD folder the files are all there. The file names are all correct, including the file extension. When I go to the same folder via my Sony Blu-Ray player all but the one missing VOB is listed.

I have tried deleting the file and rebacking up the movie and have tried various DVD utilities to fix but to no avail.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    That would be one option.

For now I am trying to figure out why the VOB is not showing up and how to back up the movie so that all VOB would show up via the Blu-Ray.

Have you considered that it might simply be a bug in the Sony? If so anything you do on your side to try to "fix" it may be a waste of time. I really don't get why people keep buying Sony when they are the most anti-consumer electronics manufacturer there is and their name stopped standing for "quality" many years ago.

I have thought about it. This happened to only 2 VOB files so far. There must be something about those two files that make them different from the others that keeps the Sony for seeing them.

I am not a fan of Sony either. My first choice was Samsung but that one did not allow for changing the audio stream when access movie file through the network; that was not something I could live with.

  6. Check what is different from the VOBs that ARE seen.

Take one that is seen, rename it to something else, then rename the invisible VOB to the same name from the first one.

Verify that the invisible VOBs wll play with software.

The Blu-Ray will only see certain characteristics of the file, there are only a few things to check.
