Replacing and editing audio files.....what is the best approach?

So I a lot of old movies which are in my native language(dubbed audio) which are in dvd quality. Now that I am used to HD picture quality I would like to use the video stream from HD movie, and join it with the dubbed audio from dvd quality video so I can watch the HD movie in my native language. But as you can guess the audio and video streams between dvd and hd quality do not match up. There isn't a big difference, mostly just a production company intros have changed, but still they would need editing. I know how to demux streams, whether it is audio or video, from mkv and avi files, but what I need is a way to edit MKA and other audio formats that the movies might be using AC3 etc. So what tools would I need?

You need a lot of time and a good editor where you can cut EXACTLY like videoredo, solveigmm video editor and maybe also a good audio editor like audacity, goldwave.

Or if it's several cuts you can use an advanced editor where you can edit both video and audio tracks directly like aviutl, vegas moviestudio, etc.

Thanks for the help. I actually have goldwave, but when I tried to load/import on .MKA file all I got was screeching sound when I played the track. VLC plays to audio normally so there is nothing wrong with the actually audio track. Any thoughts on that?

Best approach in my opinion is to always watch a movie in the original language, unless it is for little kids who cannot read I see no advantage whatsoever to use a dubbed movie.

You could extract the audio as WAV before opening it in your WAV Editor. I use AoA Audio Extractor for that.

And I agree with newpball. Subtitles should be used rather than a bad dub track. They taught you to read in school, didn't they?

You caught me ......I am "working on" some old movies from a well known animation company......I grew up watching them as dubbed so I don't really mind, and the dubbed versios have a sort of nostalgy effect on me too . Thou I must admit that the original voice overs are usually much better than any dubs, except for few exceptions. I'm mainly doing this so that my friends kids can enjoy the sane movies as I did when I was a kid.
