My most common authoring in the last few years is using MKV files that I burn in double-sided DVDs.

So the problems involved with it do not fit into DVD authoring or Bluray authoring. In this case I choose to ask this question here.

One of the problems I have to deal with is file size, which can never exceed 8Gb. And there are not too many variables I can adjust.

But one of them is audio file size, which I did also adjust when burning DVDs.

MKV files can't be read on too many Bluray players, and I bought my LG BD390 because it did. Unfortunately DTS files have to be sacrificed, because they are too large. So I always convert them to AC3/5.1 files, using Avisynth.

Then comes the kbs I want my AC3 file to be, maximum being 640. In DVDs, the maximum allowed was 448kbs.

No comes my question. There two intermediate kbs settings between 640 and 448 that I can choose: 512 and 576. Will any of those resolutions be accepted by the disc player?

My guess is they will, but I am not sure. My guess is also that the higher the resolution, the better the sound. So it should pay to use the higher kbs setting I could fit, is that so?
