  1. Is there a free program that will allow me to drop in the .mpg file and have it split the streams so I can deal with just the audio?

I have Tmpgenc 2.5 it won't work, I have tried REJig and that fails. Belight won't work! Grr there must be something out there I can use but what is it?

    Thanks in advance!

Try the basic Pazera Free Audio Extractor or AoA Audio Extractor. Both based on ffmpeg.

You can also split to elementary streams using DGIndex.

No I didn't and I feel lame! I had the tools to do the job but didn't know how to use them :/ I ran another file thru TMPgenc and as you say it worked fine. This might be the first time I used the program for that purpose...I have to have SOME excuse anyway! lol

    Many thanks to all.
