    Good Afternoon,
    After reading through some posts and recommendations, I decided to try RipBot 264 for my mpg to mp4 conversion needs. I downloaded the application from this site and installed it without difficulty.
    However, I did have to download ffdshow and Mastroska, which I did and installed without difficulty.

    So where is the problem you ask. When I launch RipBot and attempt to open up my mpg file, I get the following:

    1. please wait, indexing video stream
    2. Can't open /temp/ripbot264temp/job1/getinfo.avs and that is where it ends.

    I did check ffdshow to make sure that avisynth was checked and installed. But the error message continues.

    A search through the forums using the above subject line, did not offer up any help.

    THus, any ideas on where to start ...

    Thanks,
    Ed

    Can you play the mpg without problems in wmp?
    Is the getinfo.avs created?

    Or use something that does not need any separate software like handbrake, xmedia recode or freemake video converter.

    Baldrick,
    Yes, the mpg will play in a number of other players just fine.
    No. The avs file was not created or at least the path to that file was not created. In fact, I created that path and retried the process. But alas, no joy in muddville.

    Thanks for the other recommendations. I will try those on for size.

    Ed.

  4. /temp/ripbot264temp/job1/getinfo.avs

    shouldn't be something like X:/temp/ripbot264temp/job1/getinfo.avs where X is a drive letter?

    Open ripbot264.ini in notepad and change this line
    StoreTempFilesin=AUTO

    to

    StoreTempFilesin=C
