  1. I'm running WinME,is it worth upgrading to WinXP?

  2. Yes, handles files larger than 4gb if you use NTFS filesystem, is more stable (probably) and is a nice OS....

But if you're happy with what you have already, then you will need to do a complete re-install to make XP completely happy, as upgrading never seems as good in my experience!!!

I upgraded from ME to XP. Im my humble opinion. YES! WinME sucked. Make sure you get froceASPI though. XP has NO ASPI layer installed.

And do a "fresh" install with XP. Upgrading causes all kins of problems for me.

    Good luck!

  5. Not all of it. I upgraded to XP and discovered that some of the software I had been using was no longer usable (WinDVD did not work and Easy CD Creator 4.0 had some problems for example. Most worked fine and I am very satisfied with the end product. Check the websites for your software for compatibility. The system is much more stable than with Win 98 and Win ME.

  6. even if the software doesnt work, try right clicking on the exe and go to proprietys.... somewhere in there you can choose "run in 98 compatibility mode... this helps 9 timesx outa 10... xp is a great os in my opinion.

  7. I think its great! The main reason I upgraded was so I could capture dv movies over 4 gigs. The included dv editing software is crap, but I use Ulead VideoStudio 6 to do that type of thing. Fairly easy to set up a home network on it too. As for the software compatibility goes I haven't had any problems besides a driver compatibility problem with my old digital camera. Doesn't crash AS MUCH as 98, but being a microsoft product it still does now and again. Installation was really easy too; I didn't have to install 1 driver for any of my hardware, it was all included in xp. I know I sound like a Micro$ft rep, but I have been happy with it.
