  1. Hi everyone,This will be my first attempt to make a vcd. I need some help on getting started and excuse me if this has been asked before(I have tried searching the forums). I downloaded a divx movie the other day and now I want to put it on a cd-r so i can watch it on my stand alone dvd player (pioneer 434).when I open the properties of the file it says avi. I have three questions 1.)Are avi and divx the same? 2.)what guide should I follow? 3.) Can I make the picturesize bigger?(I know when I play it I just change the picture to fullscreen.)

  2. whoa, u are really new, hehe

ok, avi's are only divx if they are using the divx codec(compression-decompresion). To find out what codec is being used, if u have wmp 6.4, right click, go to properties, then details.

If ur wmp is newer, go to www.digital-digest.com and download the avi info program, very nice program.

Now, u need NOT manually resize the vid.

TVs use these res's for vcds and svcds-
    352x240, 480x480 NTSC
    352x288, 480x576 PAL

If u in the USA, use ntsc.

Now, tmpgenc already has preset templates to encode in standard formats. Use those for a while and read up more here on vcdhelp about advanced things to do in tmpgenc.

When u think u are ready and understand enough to do this, email me at- locooverrider@hotmail.com and i'll let u use my temps to encode a movie up to 2 hrs on 1 cd in standard format, vcd or svcd onto only 1 cd and still maintain very good visual quality.

Now, this avi u downloaded, if it is a dvd rip, email me PRONTO!!!! u have to certain things to avi dvd rips for them to play back right

Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one.
